Dancing With the Stars 2014 Season 18 Lineup: Cast Member Rumors on Erin Andrews, Brooke Burke-Charvet Host Change
The "Dancing With The Stars" 2014 lineup has been announced, and along with is, a change from season 17 co-host Brooke Burke-Charvet to Season 18 host Erin Andrews.
Despite the sudden way in which Burke-Charvet was cut from the job, "DWTS" longtime co-host Tom Bergeron revealed that both ladies have been especially mature, considering the circumstances.
The "Dancing With the Stars" 2014 change in terms of co-hosts was sudden— only weeks before the show is set to air March 17, Burke-Charvet was told would not be returning. Even though Andrews took her place, Bergeron, who met with his former co-host for drinks, commended her on her maturity during the transition.
"I told her … how impressed I was with how she handled all of this," he told E! News. "She and Erin have exchanged calls and voicemail messages, and I said, 'There's a lot of maturity going on here because everybody's being wonderful in the face of some difficult times.'"
Despite the big change, Bergeron said he has confidence in Andrews' ability to do the job. She is one of the most recognizable sideline reporters in sports journalism, and the "DWTS" co-host has worked with her personally in the past.
"Erin and I first worked together when we did the Scripps Spelling Bee for ABC back a few years ago," he explained. "She's very energetic and smart and funny, and I think she's going to bring all of that to the show."
In addition to a new co-host and all new contestants, there will also be a new "DWTS" feature called the "Switch Up": viewers may vote to make contestants switch partners. Bergergon admitted that it could turn out "very intriguing and exciting or a train wreck," so it remains to be seen how and when the new feature will be used.
The "Dancing With The Stars" lineup in 2014 has all new faces like NeNe Leakes, Candace Cameron Bure, Cody Simpson, and even Olympic athletes like Meryl Davis and Charlie White. Actress Danica McKellar, Olympian para-snowboarder Amy Purdy, NHL player Sean Avery, Big Time Rush music artist James Maslow, distance swimmer Diana Nyad and Drew Carey are competing for the Mirrorball trophy.
Bergeron admitted that actress Danica McKellar is his favorite to win.
