'Dancing With the Stars' 2015 Season 20 Cast News: Show Reveals Pro Dancers
The Season 20 pros on the upcoming season of "Dancing With the Stars" was announced Wednesday, February 11 on "Good Morning America" and 10 pro dancers will be battling it out for the coveted Mirror Ball Trophy when the show returns.
The pros who will be competing on the show are Mark Ballas, Sharna Burgess, Witney Carson, Artem Chigvintsev, Val Chmerkovskiy, Tony Dovolani, Allison Holker, Kym Johnson, Peta Murgatroyd, and Emma Slater.
Carson won the Mirror Ball Trophy last season with partner Alfonso Ribeiro. Dovolani won in season 15 with Melissa Rycroft and has been on the show for 19 seasons, longer than any other pro on the show. Ballas won season 6 with Olympic gold medal figure skater Kristi Yamaguchi, and season 8 with Olympic gold medal gymnast Shawn Johnson. Kym Johnson is also a two-time DWTS winner: she won season 9 with Donny Osmond, and season 12 with Hines Ward.
Two more professional dancers will be announced on Feb. 24, when the celebrity cast for season 20 is also announced. Based on those named so far, both unknown dancers are likely to be men to pair with female celebrities.
It was earlier reported that Derek Hough, Cheryl Burke won't be returning to the show. Hough will be performing in a live Radio City Music Hall production in New York, but the 5-time DWTS winner says that he would like to return to the show for season 21. Burke announced in December that she would leave the show for another venture with NBC.
Recently, Karina Smirnoff took to Instagram to announce that she won't be coming back to the show. The season 12 DWTS champion wrote, "After a lot of thought and prayer, I've decided to focus my energies on some other exciting endeavors including adding author to my resume."
"I have absolutely loved dancing for all of you these years and feel blessed to have been given a platform to put my passion for dance, choreography, and creativity on display."
"Dancing With the Stars" season 20—the 10th anniversary of the show's premiere—will debut on Monday, March 16 on ABC.
