'Dancing With the Stars' Season 22 Premiere Recap: Len Goodman Returns as Three Stars Tie on Top

Monday's episode of "Dancing With the Stars" season 22 was filled with nostalgia and many great moments as Len Goodman returned to the judges' panel and three celebs made it to the top spot.

Goodman is one of the favorite judges that graced the show and while he was missed during the previous season, his return was a blast for those who have been requesting the head judge's comeback.

As for the stars who battled it out for the top post, there was a lot of tension before the first placers were announced. According to ABC News, Ginger Zee's jive gave joy not only to the audience but to the judges.

Nyle DiMarco, who is deaf, received a lot of respect from Bruno Tonioli, who was awed by the "America's Next Top Model" winner's determination despite being unable to hear the music. DiMarco explained that he was able to pull of the routine through following the steps and movements of his partner.

Wanya Morris, on the other hand, opted for a cha-cha version of "Motownphilly," a song from his own band, Boyz II Men. U.S. Weekly reports that Morris said his interest in the dancing show was ignited by Joey Fatone. The NSYNC member put on some extra pounds over the past years but was able to take part in "Dancing With the Stars at Sea."

Zee, DiMarco, and Morris gained 23 points, while, Doug Flutie's foxtrot with Karina Smirnoff didn't impress the audiences too much and they were only able to get 15 points.

Finally, there's Mischa Barton and Artem Chigvintsev, who got slammed by Goodman, calling their dance number "walking." It should be noted that Barton had shared earlier that she had danced a lot all throughout her life, which is why a lot of people were disappointed with her performance.

It is unclear which pair will go home first but it is speculated that Geraldo Rivera, who only received 13 points, will be the first to pack up if his numbers don't go up in the upcoming episode.

"Dancing With the Stars" airs every Monday at 8 PM on ABC.
