'Daredevil' Season 3 News: Vincent D'Onofrio's Kingpin Returns to Bring More Trouble
Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) will be facing a familiar foe when "Daredevil" returns for season 3.
Vincent D'Onofrio will reprise his role as Wilson Fisk aka Kingpin, according to reports. The villain was introduced in season 1, but he has not appeared on the show since midway through the second installment. Aside from D'Onofrio's comeback, "Daredevil" is also welcoming new showrunner Erik Oleson for its third season.
"Vincent is an exceptional actor who returns with the incredible gravitas he brings to Fisk," EP and Marvel TV chief Jeph Loeb said about the casting announcement. "We're very excited how Marvel's 'Daredevil' develops through the creative lens and guidance of our new showrunner, Erik Oleson."

Matt aka Daredevil was last seen in the Netflix mini-series "The Defenders." Based on Daredevil's situation when the series wrapped up, many fans have speculated that season 3 of the superhero drama will finally move on to the fan-favorite "Born Again" story arc.
CBR points out that this arc is special for fans because of how it portrayed Daredevil's character. It offered a deeper insight into his background as a Catholic and how it drove him to madness. Additionally, the arc showed comic book fans that Daredevil is indeed one of the Marvel Universe's most important characters.
"Born Again" is also significant for Fisk's character because it made him one of the scariest villains in the comics. Despite his ruthless personality, Fisk did not want to kill Matt. Instead, he just wanted to destroy his arch-nemesis and make his life a living hell. After learning about Daredevil's secret identity, Fisk financially crippled Matt and bombed his apartment.
The third season of "Daredevil" is expected to premiere 2018 on Netflix. A definitive release date has yet to be announced by the network.
