'Deadpool' New Trailer Reveals Some More Details About The Film

On Christmas Day, fans of the upcoming movie "Deadpool" were treated to a new trailer about the now famous "Merc with a mouth." The trailer was in fact an integral part of the 12 days of Deadpool campaign, put up to build up hype for the upcoming movie, according to a report in CNET.

According to another report in Empire, this recent marketing campaign revealed so many interesting tidbits about the film and its story. The film's director Tim Miller and producer Simon Kinberg outlined some of these that were in fact revealed recently.

"Deadpool's" intense marketing campaign is intentional as according to Miller and Kinberg, they are using online presence to introduce the character to the public. Miller said that because Deadpool is very different from other Marvel heroes, there is a need to "ease people into this character and the really different sort of space he inhabits."

The movie's location is somewhat introduced, but not so much on the actual place. While the film's writers describe the city as "a pre-post apocalyptic Detroit," the idea really is to make it look like the place where Deadpool would live – somewhere that is "grittier" and "nastier" than what is usually shown in other "X-Men" movies, for example.

Miller and Kinberg also talk about two other characters in the film, Blind Al and Negasonic Teenage Warhead. Blind Al, who is played by Leslie Uggams, is a blind, old woman who has this strange relationship with Deadpool. In the comics, she is Deadpool's hostage in her home, which is also Deadpool's hideout. Negasonic Teenage Warhead, on the other hand, was described by Miller as a "snarky" yet disaffected teen, who also has a "silently shaming" and "judgmental personality."

Another important character that ties Deadpool to the X-Men universe is Colossus, who also appears in the film and was shown in the trailer.

Lastly, Miller also talked about Deadpool's love interest in the film, Vanessa. According to him, Wade (a.k.a. Deadpool) and Vanessa are not in what one calls a conventional relationship. They had to make sure that the character of Vanessa was one that would be able to keep up with Wade so in the movie, "she's a lot stronger than he is."

Aside from the trailers, several movie posters were also released, as well as downloadable Deadpool emojis.

"Deadpool" will bow in theaters on February 12, 2016 in North America.
