'Death March to the Parallel World Rhapsody' Latest News: New Key Visual Art Released for Upcoming Fantasy 'Isekai' Anime Series

Ichirou Suzuki's life is about to take a life-changing turn on the upcoming Japanese anime series, "Death March kara Hajimaru Isekai Kyousoukyoku," also known as "Death March to the Parallel World Rhapsody."

A promotional image has just been released featuring Ichirou, a 29-year-old computer programmer who gets transported into a fantasy roleplaying game (RPG) after falling asleep while trying to meet an upcoming deadline. He will wake up in a strange new place, and although he initially thinks he is inside a dream, his experiences will gradually convince him that what's been happening and are still about to happen to him may all be real.

Additionally, inside the game, he is not the adult Ichirou but is instead a 15-year-old boy named Satou. And as teased in the recently released trailer, it seems that Satou may have also gained an extremely powerful magical ability known as the Meteor Shower, which may, in turn, allow him to get rid of an army of lizard men for starters.

Satou will soon become a high-leveled traveler, who wishes to hide his ability and achievements in order to live a normal and peaceful life. However, he will soon meet new people along the way, who may help take the game's story to new and unpredictable twists and turns.

Foremost of this is the eventual return of the Demon King, who will put such a damper on Satou's plans that the latter will then be forced to take on the challenge of ultimately defeating him.

The trailer also features Satou's companions, which consist of girls, as well as brief glimpses of the world that Satou will now be calling home. The newest key visual art that has been released for the series shows Satou and 8 girls setting out on a journey aboard a covered wagon.

"Death March to the Parallel World Rhapsody" is scheduled for release on January 2018 on Tokyo MX, BS11, and AT-X. It is based on the light novel series of the same name written by Hiro Ainana, and will reportedly be directed by Shin Onuma for Silver Link and Connect.

The scripts will be written by Kento Shimoyama, while Shoko Takimoto and MONACA will be providing the character designs and music respectively.
