Demi Lovato Reveals 'Then' and 'Now' Images Showing Her Recovery From Eating Disorder

Demi Lovato recently showed her before-and-after image showing her ongoing recovery from bulimia nervosa.

Lovato shared a fan-made photo on her Instagram Story Wednesday, offering a glimpse at how much her body has changed since she started recovering from her eating disorder. "Recovery is possible," the actress wrote in the caption.

The brunette beauty discussed her battle with the eating disorder in "Simply Complicated," her new YouTube documentary detailing her struggles in the past. She explained that her split from Wilmer Valderrama after six years of dating led her to slip back into her old habits.

"When I was in a relationship with Wilmer I went three years without purging and when we broke up that's one of the first things I did," she said in the documentary.

Additionally, Lovato opened up about how she nearly died from an overdose of prescription pills. Following her decision to seek help in 2010 for drug and alcohol addiction, the former Disney star said she relapsed two years later.

"I wasn't working my programme, I wasn't ready to get sober," she stated, adding she would sneak cocaine on planes and in bathrooms. "I went on a bender of like, two months where I was using daily."

She also recalled one night when she consumed too much cocaine as well as some Xanax bars. Lovato said she started to "choke a little bit" as her heart began racing after taking the drugs. "I thought to myself, 'Oh my God, I might be overdosing right now,'" Lovato said about the scary incident.

Lovato has since turned away from her addiction and is now using her past struggles to help others who are also suffering from the same issues. She recently debuted her new album, "Tell Me You Love Me," featuring 12 new tracks. The singer is also set to perform at the upcoming MTV Europe Music Awards in London alongside Kesha, Shawn Mendes, The Killers and more.
