'Dancing With The Stars' Season 20 Cast News: Derek Hough to Drop Out of New Season
Derek Hough won't be returning to "Dancing with the Stars" when the popular ABC competition series comes back for its spring run. The Emmy winning choreographer revealed to People Magazine that he will be sitting out the new season in order to be part of the New York Spring Spectacular at Radio City Music Hall. The show will run from March to May, around the same time that "Dancing With the Stars" 20th season will be airing.
According to People, Hough will play Jack, described as "a man with a special mission who will receive an eternal reward if he's able to help a man named Bernie keep his position as a New York City tour guide." The show will also star "Nashville" actress Laura Benanti, Whoopi Goldberg as the voice of the Statue of Liberty, and Bella Thorne as the Alice in Wonderland statue.
"I am ecstatic that I'll be able to extend my passion for performing to the Great Stage of Radio Music City Hall in New York Spring Spectacular," said Hough.

"Performing at Radio Music City Hall in a show that celebrates everything that is beloved about New York City is a dream. I can't wait to show fans this production … it's going to be like nothing they've ever seen me in before."
Hough won't be the only one who will be missed by "Dancing With the Stars" fans, as Cheryl Burke has announced that she will be leaving the show. She is set to appear in a new reality show on NBC. Longtime judge Len Goodman has also announced that the 20th season of DWTS will be his final season on the show.
"Dancing With the Stars" is set to return on March 16 on ABC.
