As for the Raptors, many believed that they would be one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference, however, the way that they have improved and dominated is simply amazing.
They have appeared to equal their level of play with Eastern Conference giants, the Cleveland Cavaliers, and at times have been much better than their rivals.
This is credited to the excellent play of their star backcourt Kyle Lowry and DeMar DeRozan.
Lowry has emerged as the leader of the team and as the point guard, he is displaying excellent court vision and leadership without sacrificing his personal productivity.
When the Raptors need their point guard, he has come up with big plays. Whether it will be passing the ball to find the open man or converting a big shot, it seems Lowry has relished in the chances he has gotten.
On the other side, DeRozan appears to have evolved and is now not just a flashy player. He has developed a great jumpshot to complement his drives to the basket and he has done so with so much efficiency that has greatly helped the team.
As for Detroit, the Pistons have Andre Drummond who is an All-Star and deservingly so. The big man has averaged double figures in points and rebounds but has also been a force in the defensive end.
While people may have overlooked Drummond last season, they are unable to do that now as he has stepped his game up and improved dramatically – he could be a complete player if he only made his free throws.
