Novak Djokovic vs Jo-Wilfried Tsonga for US Open 2016 Match Preview: Players Face Off in Tournament's Quarterfinals; Predictions, TV Info and Live Stream [DETAILS]
With Djokovic still dealing with an arm issue, sports analysts say Tsonga has a big chance to win.
World's number one tennis player Novak Djokovic faces Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in their quarterfinal clash for men's singles held at the 2016 US Open on Wednesday.
Highlights of Djokovic vs. Tsonga
Despite the difficult times he experienced in the past month, Djokovic still proved that he is still at the top of his game during the US Open season.
Instead of suffering from a performance slump during US Open tournament, Djokovic beat the odds as he swept Kyle Edmund of Great Britain through a 6-2, 6-1, and 6-4 feat. It only took him two hours to finish the game with a notable score throughout three rounds, compared to his opponent.
On the other hand, Tsonga's US Open records remain a question. He has won a couple of tournaments, but he has not earned any Grand Slam win yet. He may, however, catch Djokovic off-guard if he sustains his energy all throughout their match.
Tsonga is the world's number 11. His name has reached headlines at the peak of his career in 2011 and 2012. Throughout his career, Tsonga has earned two Masters 1000. His last win was recorded in 2014.
Djokovic and Tsonga have squared off several times during ATP Tennis and Grand Slam matches. However, this will be their first match in the US Open history.
Dou's physical Ppreparations
Djokovic has set his first tournaments at US Open with lower vigor. He had a halting match against Jerzy Janowicz, where the world's number one was found complaining about his bothersome arm. During their match, he lagged in speed. He started off fast on the first round, emerged slower on the next and then alternately changing his speeds for each round. He scored 6-3, 5-7, 6-2, and 6-1 against Janowicz.
Tsonga, on the other hand, shows a very fit and lean physique. He was noted to be consistent in his match against American Jack Sock. It was also evident in the score obtained from their game: 6-3, 6-3, 6-7, and 6-2.
Despite how far their titles are, sports analysts say that Tsonga has a great chance of defeating the world's number one.
