'Doctor Who' Season 10 News: Who Is the Time Lord's New Companion?

After the dramatic exit of Jenna Coleman, fans have been curious about who will become the Time Lord's new companion when "Doctor Who" returns.

The previous season of "Doctor Who" saw the death of Jenna Coleman's character, Clara Oswald. With that, there have been much question on who will take on her position as the Time Lord's companion in "Doctor Who" Season 10.

Steve Moffat had previously shared the challenge of finding a partner for Capaldi since it is expected to be a lead role, as opposed to a side kick. He had said, "I'm still [in] the quite early stages [of casting]-but very clear on the change we're going to make to the tone of the show. It's not just casting a supporting character. It's not. It's the lead or the co-lead, and it will become their story. So, it's a huge, massive thing."

After months of waiting, Peter Capaldi, who plays the role of Time Lord, finally confirmed that there is a new cast member joining the series. In addition, his new companion is expected to bring a lot of new changes to the series. Capaldi explained that after screen testing several choices for his new partner, the executives behind the series have already picked one to take on the role.

While the new cast member has yet to be announced, Capaldi stated, "I think the companion has to be someone who's not so impressed by the Doctor – she's not an assistant, she's not a servant, she can't be that – she has to be someone who really says 'are you sure that's the right thing to do? What are you doing?' and also doesn't take him seriously."

However, the exciting news came with a bitter one as well. It was rumored that the tenth season of "Doctor Who" would be Capaldi's final run. There are reports stating that Capaldi is going to make his departure due to some knee problems he received while filming stunts for the show.

His exit will be coinciding with Moffat's exit, which means that the new Time Lord will most likely be chosen by the new executive producer of the show. With that, fans can expect a lot of changes to happen as the series moves forward.
