Dominic Monaghan, 'Swamp People' is 'Disgusting'

"Lost" star Dominic Monaghan has riled the fans of the History channel's hit series "Swamp People" by using his Twitter account to slam the series. Monaghan tweeted that the show is "disgusting. I'm gonna stop them. Watch this space," he threatened.

"If alligator populations need to be controlled I understand but the act should not be glorified on tv.disgusting.These are living creatures," the actor tweeted on Wednesday. "If my hero #steveirwin was around those shows about killing alligators wouldn't be on tv. I'm gonna stop them. Watch this space," he added.

According to the History channel's website, "'Swamp People' takes you on a journey to a hidden world, the bayous and swamplands of America's southern heartland, where the folks who dwell here live on the fringes of society and are known as Cajuns."

The series depicts life in the bayous, which often includes fighting with alligators. In those instances, alligators often have to be put down in order to protect individuals. But there is a sport some tend to express in hunting alligators. For example, a popular catchphrase on the show is "Choot 'em, Clint!" which is featured on a t-shirt above the photo of an alligator and available for purchase on the show's website.

Monaghan apparently ruffled quite a few feathers of fans, but he is determined not to back down from his statements.

"With 37k followers at least SOMEONE is going to be annoyed or disagree with how I do stuff, but I don't n the majority don't so I'm happy," he tweeted.

Some, however, have offered their support and encouragement to Monaghan.

"I agree with you," tweeted MeganElaine2196. "Shows like Swamp People make me sick 2 my stomach."

"Much love from me and my gator in the lake at my house XO" wrote ALH009, who also posted a picture of the alligator.
