Donald Trump Still on Top in Terms of Expectations and Attributes, Recent Polls Show

Donald Trump has, once again, soared above his Republican rivals in the 2016 presidential race in terms of vote preference and expectations, based on recent polls.

The results of the recent ABC News/Washington Post survey come as a surprise for a Republican presidential candidate who has no background in politics. Donald Trump has managed to clinch 32 percent of registered Republican and Republican-leaning voters, with Ben Carson trailing behind at 22 percent, according to ABC News.

The said poll also shows that 42 percent of the respondents expect the real estate mogul to be the GOP nominee in the presidential race. Among the six given potential nominees, Trump was chosen by 43 percent of the subjects as the candidate that will most likely win the general election.

In addition, Trump is doing well in a lot of areas and is ahead of rivals Carson, Jeb Bush, Marco Rubio, Carly Fiorina, and Ted Cruz. Among the leaned Republicans, 47 percent said he is the strongest leader, while 39 percent view him as the candidate with the best solutions for the country's immigration issues. Voters who feel that Trump is closest to the people on the common issues reach 32 percent, and those who think Trump best understands their personal problems reach 29 percent, the report details.

However, 33 percent of the respondents think that Carson is the most trustworthy and honest candidate, compared with 21 percent that chose Trump. He is also below Bush in terms of experience in the political arena (31 percent versus 23 percent). Lastly, 24 percent of the subjects think Carson has the best personality that will fit the presidential seat, and only 19 percent chose Trump, the report relays.

Two other polls conducted by the CNN/ORC global and the NBC/Wall Street Journal also reflect similar results. With the key Republican primaries drawing just a few months away, Trump is still on top of the GOP list, Huewire reports.

Based on the two recently released poll results, Donald Trump is ahead of all his GOP rivals, while Fiorina has slid far below. Bush's ratings have also dropped in all categories given in the poll. The business mogul's lead in the presidential race may be attributed to his ability to address national issues that other candidates are not talking about.
