Drake's 'Views From The 6' Release Date Coming April 2016
Drake's "Views From The 6" is coming in April.
The news came from Drake himself during the Saturday episode of OVO Sound Radio on Apple's Beats 1, which the Canadian rapper co-hosted.
"We're here working overtime on it tryna make it everything I know it should be and the album itself will be coming in April 2016, so 416, you know what's where I'm from," the rapper announced, as quoted by Rap-Up. 416 is the area code for Toronto, the rapper's hometown.
"I'll give you a date later on," Drake said. "For now, just know we're working, we're ready for anything."
The 29-year-old singer and record producer also debuted "Summer Sixteen," a new single off "Views From The 6." Earlier on Saturday, the rapper teased the release via a message he posted on Twitter, saying, "OVO Sound Radio Episode 14 tmrw at 3PM PST/6PM EST...it begins."
The new track, which was produced by CuBeatz, Boi-1da, and Noah "40" Shebib, referenced two of Drake's musical influences, Jay Z and Kanye West. DJ Khaled has a small part near the end of the track. "Summer Sixteen" is now available on iTunes and Apple Music.
"I look forward to giving you the full vision very, very soon," Drake promised his fans.
"Views From The 6" follows the rapper's last album, "If You're Reading This It's Too Late," which was released with no prior announcement on iTunes in February 2015. The forthcoming album will be the latest of Drake's to drop on the streaming service, with which he has an exclusive deal.
According to The Verge, the rapper's joint mixtape with Future, titled "What A Time to Be Alive" and released September 2015, was previewed on OVO Sound Radio the last time Drake hosted the show. His hit single "Hotline Bling," as well as the track "Charged Up," were both premiered on Beats 1.
