'Dying Light The Following' Expansion Lets Gamers 'Pimp Their Ride'

The 2015 survival video game, "Dying Light," which aside from being open-world also features one of the scariest creatures ever created by man – zombies, is getting a new expansion titled "The Following" on February 9. In the lead up to the release, the game's developer, Techland, recently released a new gameplay trailer showing gamers what to expect from the coming expansion. According to a report in GameSpot, the trailer essentially shows players how they can "pimp their ride" with weapons and other cool stuff which one might need to kill zombies.

The trailer is appropriately titled "Weaponize your Ride" and it showed three ways for players to "pimp" their ride, which, in the case of the trailer, is a buggy. There are three choices for the player: Customize, Modify and Upgrade.

The Customize option, based on the trailer, allows players to change their buggies' paint job and skins. This choice only deals with how the buggy looks. According to the developer, there are 40 paint jobs to choose from. If players want to make changes under the hood, they need to go to Modify, where one can upgrade the buggy's engine, for example. The choices available for the types of engines depend on what level in the game the player is in. Other parts that can be improved on are the vehicle's suspension and brakes.

The Upgrade option looks to be the most exciting of the three. According to the trailer, this is where players can put in weapons and other neat gadgets on their buggies to help them fight off the zombie scourge. Among the weapons featured are a flamethrower, an electric cage, UV headlights guaranteed to keep off zombies, and ramming bars for running over them.

"The Following" arrives on February 9 for current generation consoles – the Xbox One and the PS4 – and PC. It will be sold individually for $20, but the "Dying Light" DLC pass at $30 already includes this and other new content. For those who have yet to purchase the game, an Enhanced Edition of "Dying Light" which is also being released on February 9, will come with "The Following" expansion.
