Ed Sheeran Forced to Cancel Asia Tour Dates Following Bicycle Accident

Ed Sheeran has announced that a string of his Asia tour dates will be canceled due to his recent bicycle accident.

The British singer-songwriter posted a concerning photo on Instagram Monday, showing his left arm in a sling and his right arm in a cast. Sheeran did not reveal how the accident happened, but The Sun claims he was riding his bike in London when a car hit him. The red-headed crooner has yet to confirm the report.

On Tuesday, Sheeran offered another update for his fans and confirmed that both his left elbow and right wrist were broken — leaving him "unable to perform live concerts for the immediate future."

The "Shape of You" singer further dictated to a friend, "Sadly, this means that the following shows will not be able to go ahead as planned: Taipei, Osaka, Seoul, Tokyo and Hong Kong. I'm waiting to see how the healing progresses before we have to decide on shows beyond that. Please stay tuned for more details."

After the canceled tour dates, Sheeran also has concerts lined up in the Philippines (Nov. 7), Indonesia (Nov. 9) and Singapore (Nov. 11). He is then scheduled to perform in Thailand and Malaysia in mid-November. The last two concerts for his Asia tour are in India (Nov. 19) and Dubai (Nov. 23).

BBC notes the 26-year-old will then have a three-month break, which coincides with the Brit Awards and the Grammys. It will be followed by the resumption of his tour in Australia early next year.

Sheeran has been touring the world to promote his multimillion-selling album "Divide," which officially hit the shelves in March. He is best known for performing solo in his concerts, and he previously said he would never consider playing alongside a backing band.
