Elizabeth Escalona Life Sentence Threat Does Not Faze Mother of Abused Toddler: 'Only God Can Judge Me'

A 23-year-old mother, who pleaded guilty to beating and gluing her 2-year-old daughter's hands to the wall in a child abuse case, could face a life sentence. But according to her, "only God" can judge her.

Two-year-old Jocelyn Escalona was brought to a Children's Medical Center in Dallas last September. According to a tearful testimony given by the doctor who treated her, Jocelyn had bruises, bite marks, and cuts all over her body. Her hands, which had been glued to the wall, were bloodied. It allegedly was not the first time that such an incident had occurred.

Some of Jocelyn's hair had been pulled out and glue was also found in the little girl's eyelashes according to the doctor's testimony. Why? Because the two-year-old had not excelled at potty training.

"I have no comment, and only God can judge me. That's all I gotta say," Elizabeth Escalona said in a previous interview according to Mail Online.

It is not the first time that Escalona has referenced God. On the day of the attack Escalona also posted a picture of herself and her daughter with a caption that stated, "Why does God put obstacles in my life?"

Jocelyn and her siblings, who also attested to the abuse that the two-year-old had endured, were immediately given into state custody following the incident. Escalona pleaded guilty to the injury of a child charges in July. Her sentencing hearing began on Monday where she faces up to life in prison.
