EMI Gospel Receives Label Of The Year Nomination For R & R's Industry Achievement Awards
Industry leader EMI Gospel has been nominated for a 2005 R&R Industry Achievement Award in the "Label of the Year" category. A year after adopting the Gospel format for charting purposes, the publication is officially acknowledging this genre by including it in the R&R Industry Achievement Awards for the very first time. EMI Gospel is in the company of fellow heavyweight label nominees Zomba Label Group, Sony Urban Music and Gospo Centric, and others. Ballots have gone out to eligible subscribers and they have until Friday, May 20, to cast their electronic vote.
"It's an honor to be nominated for this award," comments EMI Gospel's Vice President and General Manager Larry Blackwell. "We at EMI Gospel are just thrilled that R&R has stepped up and validated Gospel as a genre. I believe that the visibility that R&R offers helps the entire Gospel community in regards to lifting up our artists and spreading the Good News. We are simply humbled to be recognized by them for this achievement."
EMI Gospel's roster includes 2005 Grammy Award winner Smokie Norful, gospel greats The Mighty Clouds of Joy, LaShun Pace and Darius Brooks, as well as outstanding newcomers Kierra "KiKi" Sheard, Micah Stampley and Antonio Neal, to name a few.
