Emilia Clarke Dyes Her Hair Platinum Blonde Similar to 'Game of Thrones' Character Daenerys Targaryen
Emilia Clarke is officially blonde.
On Tuesday, Emilia Clarke, who plays Daenerys Targaryen on the hit HBO series "Game of Thrones," took to Instagram to share a little update about herself, particularly her hair, which she revealed is now blonde much like the character she plays. The actress now sports a short platinum blonde hair, and fans couldn't help but compare her to the Khaleesi Daenerys Targaryen, who she has been known to play as in the last seven years.
"AAAAHHHHHHH SHHHHIIIII****** I done did it," Clarke excitedly began in her Instagram post. "Mother of dragons meet Emilia. Emilia meet mother of dragons. If you squint just so you might never know," she went on to say.
Hair has played a rather important role in "Game of Thrones" from the Lannister's trademark golden locks, such as Cersei's (Lena Headey) and Jaime's (Nikolai Coster-Waldau), to Jon Snow's (Kit Harington) fabulous black curls and even Sansa Stark's (Sophie Turner) fiery raid hair. Clarke's character, Daenerys Targaryen, has one of the most recognizable and most popular hair in the series. However, all throughout the show's seven seasons, the 30-year-old had always opted to wair wigs, so it's definitely a wonder why after all these years, she finally decides to dye her hair.
Clarke is a natural brunette, and in her Instagram post, she did not forget to thank the people responsible for her new hairdo. They're the same ones who had worked on her Daenerys wigs.
Interestingly, Clarke's latest actions are in stark contrast to fellow actress Sophie Turner, who always had to dye her hair red when portraying Sansa Stark but who had opted to wear wigs in the seventh season. What Clarke's new do means for the show is still up in the air, with many wondering if Daenerys will cut her hair short in the final season or if will it be forcibly chopped off. The worst-case scenario would be one where Daenerys dies, but with "Game of Thrones," nothing is ever certain. Maybe Emilia Clarke just wants to embody her character to the core, especially now that the massively popular TV series is coming to a close.
