With "Mandate of Heaven" arriving in two weeks, the game developer has outlined some of the new features that players will be able to explore and enjoy.

For the Ming Dynasty of the Celestial Empire, there will be new mechanics for Imperial Decrees and Imperial Reforms, which will help strengthen the Emperor of China. Using the Imperial Chinese's system, players will also be able to force their neighbors to pay tribute to one's Chinese Empire be it in gold, manpower or monarch points.

Meanwhile, the introduction of Manchu banners will allow players to reinforce their armies by rallying the Manchu warlords around their throne.

As for the Japanese Shogunate, "Mandate of Heaven" will introduce new rules such as the Daimyos now being loyal to the Shogun — the one who is controlling the imperial capital of Kyoto. Rivals can also be forced to commit "seppuku," which is a form of Japanese ritual suicide that preserves one's honor.

Players will also have an easier time accessing common diplomatic actions via the macrobuilder interface. Moreover, many other features are expected to be added once the upcoming expansion is launched. To get a more detailed explanation of the new features, a playthrough of "Mandate of Heaven" is available on Paradox's Twitch channel.

The "Mandate of Heaven" DLC is priced at $19.99 and will be released on Thursday, April 6.

"Europa Universalis IV" is available for Windows, Mac and Linux PCs.
