Faith and Action Will Celebrate 10th Anniversary in D.C.

Faith and Action will celebrate its 10th Anniversary on Capitol Hill in Washington, January 22-24, 2005, and twin brothers, Reverend Rob and Paul Schenck invites all to join them for three important days of prayer, ministry and fellowship at the annual Winter Conference. The event allows Paul and Rob to spend meaningful time in conversation and prayer with Faith and Action supporters. The conference will be especially meaningful this year as Paul and Rob celebrate their tenth anniversary on Capitol Hill, according to Faith and Action.

"Part of the reason our country has some of the problems we wrestle with as a ministry is because Americans don't spend time with each other. That works against marriages, parent-child relationships, even business as people know and trust each other less and less," said Rev. Rob Schenck, president of Faith and Action. "Winter Conference is our time to rebel against that spirit of our age and spend meaningful time with one another. Hallelujah!"

This year's keynote speaker is the Honorable Barry C. Black, the 62nd chaplain to the United States Senate in Washington, D.C. Dr. Black is the recently retired Navy Chief of Chaplains and is the first military man and African-American to hold this post.

Dr. Black was given the Ten Commandments Leadership Award at a special ceremony in the Prayer Garden at Faith and Action's Ministry Center this past summer. After the notorious "atheist minister" Michael Newdow sued the U.S. Congress to get rid of the both Congressional chaplains, Dr. Black and U.S. House chaplain Dan Coughlin were presented with thousands of supportive notes sent in by Faith and Action friends. A Faith and Action petition drive resulted in many more thousands of letters urging the federal courts to dismiss the case, which occurred a short time later.

The Conference is to feature a roundtable discussion on the results of the presidential election, an awards convocation at Georgetown University with US Senate Chaplain Barry C. Black, a National Memorial for the Pre-born and their Mothers and Fathers, and an annual March for Life at 1 PM Monday.

Faith and Action is a Christian outreach whose mission is to reintroduce the Word of God into the public debate surrounding legislation and policy matters. The mission field includes the White House to the U.S. Capitol and the U.S. Supreme Court. Through news conferences, symposia, panel discussions, literature distribution, the Internet, and face-to-face conversations with key Washington leaders, they hope to confront critical public policy makers with the Gospel in order to influence policy.
