'Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them' News: Eddie Redmayne Says Film Is 'Imagination Taken To The Extreme'
To the delight of Harry Potter fans all over, Warner Bros. recently dropped a behind-the-scenes featurette for the forthcoming "Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them," which is based on the J.K. Rowling novel of the same name.
"Fantastic Beasts" is the first film in a prequel/spinoff trilogy for the much-loved "Harry Potter" series of films. The film stars Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander, a wizard who arrives in New York City for a meeting, but who then inadvertently triggers a thrilling series of events when some magical (and dangerous) creatures escape from his briefcase."Fantastic Beasts" also stars Katherine Waterston as Tina Goldstein, Alison Sudol as Queenie Goldstein, Dan Fogler as Jacob Kowalski, Colin Farrell as Percival Graves, Ron Perlman as Gnarlack, and Jon Voight as Henry Shaw, Sr. Unlike the "Harry Potter" films, which were set in present-day London (and Hogwarts), "Fantastic Beasts" takes viewers back to 1920s America.
"It's just unlike anything I've ever been a part of," Redmayne says in the newly-released video. "It's like imagination taken to the extreme."
"All four central characters are outsiders," producer David Heyman explains. "Part of the journey of this for each of them is coming into themselves."
Best-selling "Harry Potter" author J.K. Rowling, who published "Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them" in 2001, serves as the film's writer and producer. The film marks her screenwriting debut.
Meanwhile, at the recent Celebration of Harry Potter event, which was held at Universal Studios Orlando, the cast of the "Harry Potter" films couldn't help but gush about the forthcoming "Fantastic Beasts."
"I didn't know what to expect," Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley) says in a video from the event. "It looks amazing."
According to Evanna Lynch, who played Luna Lovegood in the series, "It's exciting to see new witches and wizards that we don't know." "I just think it looks so wonderful," she adds.
The first film in the "Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them" trilogy lands in cinemas on Nov. 18.
