'Fear the Walking Dead' Season 2 News, Spoilers: Could 'FTWD' Tell Negan's Backstory?
Now that new main villain Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) has made his long-awaited appearance in AMC's popular "The Walking Dead," could the show's spin-off/prequel someday tell the story of where Negan came from and how he rose to power?
Though producers have already said that the two shows probably won't be crossing over anytime soon, the stars of "Fear the Walking Dead" still think that telling Negan's backstory in "FTWD" is a great idea.
"That would be pretty incredible especially because we're just now meeting him on that show," Mercedes Mason, who plays Ofelia in the series, told ComicBook.com.

"I think people would absolutely love to see that," Lorenzo James Henrie, who plays Chris, said. "I would be all for it." According to the actor, a self-confessed fan of "The Flash," it would be cool to see "TWD" and "FTWD" crossing over, much like "The Flash" and "Supergirl" just did.
Frank Dillane, who plays Nick, also said that he would love to see a crossover event. But the actor also doesn't think that the "FTWD" crew could ever end up in Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and his group's stomping grounds.
"I don't think they're going to end up at Alexandria," Dillane said. "No. I can't say where they're going to end up, but it's not there."
Meanhile, Alycia Debnam-Carey, who plays Alicia, explained that because "Fear the Walking Dead" isn't based off the "Walking Dead" comics, the show is basically just discovering things as it goes along.
Nevertheless, executive producer Gale Ann Hurd recently re-iterated that there will be no crossover, telling Deadline, "With 'Fear The Walking Dead' Season 2 we are still following the rules of the Kirkman-created universe, so we won't violate those and there is no crossover."
"Fear the Walking Dead" will take over the time slot vacated by "The Walking Dead" on Sunday at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
