Former 'Scandal' Star Columbus Short Arrested Again, Charged With Public Intoxication

Former "Scandal" star Columbus Short was arrested for public intoxication, new reports state. He was reportedly charged with public intoxication this weekend, which makes the third time this year that he has been in trouble with the law.

Short was arrested early Saturday morning at the Katy Trail Ice House, police spokesman Warren Mitchell told CNN. He was charged with public intoxication, and it is unknown whether the actor has been released from custody. A similar situation took place in March, when he was accused of punching and knocking out a fellow patron at a West Los Angeles restaurant. In that case, he pleaded not guilty to felony battery. Neither Short nor his publicist has issued a statement about this latest altercation.

In April, his wife accused him of threatening to commit murder-suicide with a knife. He denied the allegations, but a judge granted his wife, Tanee Short, a restraining order. Tanee also filed for divorce and sole custody of their 2-year-old daughter.

Short used to be one of the key players on the hit series "Scandal," written by Shonda Rhimes. Soon after the altercation with his wife, Short announced that he would no longer be on the series, but said that he appreciated his time on the series.

"I have enjoyed every single minute of it," Short told Us Weekly. "Everything must come to an end and unfortunately the time has come for Harrison Wright to exit the canvas. I wish nothing but the best for Shonda, Kerry, and the rest of the cast, who have become like a second family to me in such a short amount of time. For this, I will forever be grateful."

Rhimes confirmed that Short's character will not be recast on the upcoming series. It is instead likely that he will be killed off, given that in the season finale, he was last seen with a gun to his head. "Scandal" will carry on without Short.
