According to The Hollywood Reporter, Season 2 will see a new murder rocking the town of Fortitude as nature continues to threaten the inhabitants' survival.

Sky Atlantic renewed "Fortitude" for a second run in April 2015, ahead of its Season 1 finale. Season 2 will consist of 10 episodes.

Simon Donald, who created "Fortitude," also writes and executive produces the Pivot/Sky Atlantic drama/mystery series. According to Deadline, the creative team from Season 1 will be back for the new season. "Fortitude" is directed by Hettie Macdonald.

Iceland Review reports that filming for the second season is already underway in the town of Reyðarfjörður in East Iceland and will continue until the end of the month. According to the report, the small town is already beginning to resemble the fictional Norwegian town of Fortitude, with building signs being taken down and replaced by new ones. A letter from Pegasus, the production company handling "Fortitude," requested townspeople to turn off their outdoor lights between 4:30 and 8 p.m., with those in certain areas being asked to turn off lights near windows as well. The letter also advised that some roads will be closed as production on "Fortitude" takes place.

The second season of "Fortitude" is expected to air later this year. The series will air on Pivot in the U.S. and in certain European territories on Sky.
