'Game of Thrones' season 6 news, cast, spoilers: New settings and more characters coming together
Two months later and no one is still over what happened in the last season finale of "Game of Thrones." With the series matching the current timeline in the released books, and the next book to come out almost simultaneously with the sixth season, there is simply a lack of guide to reader fans.
Stars have been extremely quiet about the details, and even the director himself is putting a tight lid on what's bound the happen. Deadline recently interviewed Game of Thrones director Jeremy Podeswa and he dropped ideas on the future plotline. Although it was still quite generic, it's definitely more news than what has been revealed before.
He shares, "I think the way the characters converge is something that started last season, where characters who have never met before were suddenly meeting, and the worlds are coming together, and the world is getting a little smaller in a way. That happens more and more this season. That becomes very exciting. One thing I can say about the first two episodes of the season is that there's not a lot of laying pipe or laying track. We just get right into the story and it's very propulsive narratively — the whole season is — and it's heading towards a destination that is very exciting." As for Jon Snow, Podeswa still denied knowing the fate of one of the show's favorite characters and was only able to say, "I have no comment whatsoever. I got nothing. I got nothing. Watch the show, it's gonna be great. That's all I can tell you… I think it's the definition of a cliff-hanger, you know, I think it's - where does the story go from here?"
Furthermore, according to Winter Is Coming, a community for Game of Thrones news, the show is reportedly packing up from Croatia. The city of Dubrovnik is the location setting of King's Landing. They will be moving everything to the Spanish city of Girona. Many say this decision was made because of budget reasons, since many other scenes will be shot in other cities in Spain.
No news yet on when the new season will be back, but many suspect it will still be around 7–8 months .
