'Game of Thrones' Season 6 News, Spoilers: New Season Will Show Never-Before-Seen Sides of Ramsay Bolton, Actor Says
The highly anticipated sixth season of "Game of Thrones" will show a different side of sadistic villain Ramsay Bolton, Iwan Rheon, the actor who plays him, has said.
"I get to do loads of different things and show sides to Ramsay that you haven't seen before," the actor told Entertainment Weekly. "This season fills him out a bit."
"You'll see him change a bit, and take his responsibilities more seriously," Rheon said.
In the popular HBO fantasy drama's fifth season, Ramsay, possibly the most menacing of all "Game of Thrones" villains, married Sansa (Sophie Turner) and raped her on their wedding night. The episode was widely criticized for what many deemed as gratuitous violence.
When Sansa was last seen in the season 5 finale, she had escaped Ramsay's clutches and fled Winterfell with her father's former ward, Theon (Alfie Allen).
"We pick up in the aftermath of last season when Sansa and Theon have escaped," Rheon shared.
According to the actor, when season 6 airs, Ramsay will be "sheepish" and Roose, his father, will definitely not be pleased about the fact that Sansa escaped.
"Without Sansa, he doesn't have as much power as having a Stark and an heir," the actor explained. "Without her, he is not what he was."
Meanwhile, actor Isaac Hempstead-Wright, who returns in season 6 after a season-long absence, recently spoke to Yahoo! Singapore about what to expect from his character in the show's new season. In "Game of Thrones," Hempstead-Wright plays the role of Bran, the second-to-youngest Stark son.
The actor, who was in Singapore to promote the sixth season of "Game of Thrones," teased that his character will cause an "earthquake" in the fictional world of Westeros.
"When we meet Bran in season 6, he's still got a lot of learning to do, but expect lots of magic," the actor said.
"Game of Thrones" returns to HBO on April 24.
