'Game of Thrones' Season 7 Spoilers, Plot Details & Release Date: Kit Harington Hints Jon Snow Could Be Killed But Not Sooner; Sophie Turner Wants a Long, Slow Episode-Lasting Death For Sansa Stark

HBO's "Game of Thrones" (GOT) is not coming back for its Season 7 anytime soon. However, stars Kit Harington and Sophie Turner already started teasing about the fate of highly followed characters, Jon Snow and Sansa Stark.

The Safest Character

In an interview with The Wrap, Harington teased that his character will not be easily killed in the future episodes of Season 7. The 29-year-old British actor explained that after Jon Snow was slain at the end of Season 5 and was brought back to life in the second episode of Season 6, he felt that the bastard is the safest character of the series at present.

Given GOT's reputation of killing prominent characters, Harington said that Jon Snow could meet his end in the upcoming season but not sooner because it would be an awful storyline. He jokingly stressed that he actually felt a bit cocky last season knowing that the showrunners will not kill his character.

Sansa's Death

Turner shared to Variety that she already received her scripts for the GOT Season 7. The 20-year-old English actress revealed that Sansa could team up with Lord Petyr "Littlefinger" Baelish (Aidan Gillen) and be a sadistic villain or connive with her brother Jon Snow.

The "X-Men: Apocalypse" star shared that the fate of Sansa is still uncertain and in case the showrunners want to kill the character, it should be long and slow and should last for one episode. She jokingly added that Sansa's death should also be the last episode for the cult hit.

While Turner is still uncertain about the direction of Sansa in the future, she shared that she will surely miss the set of the television series when it ends in 2018. She said that although she was aware from the very start that the show would only last for seven to eight seasons, she feels sad and uncomfortable that GOT is coming to an end.

GOT's Seventh Season

HBO is yet to announce the official release date of the seventh installment of GOT. According to EW, the network confirmed that the Emmy-nominated series will return in summer 2017, instead of the traditional spring premiere. Moreover, from the usual 10 episodes, the new season will be condensed to seven episodes.

Forbes also reported last month that Casey Bloys, new programming president of HBO, confirmed that GOT's Season 8 will be its final installment. He also teased that the network is open of having a spinoff of the massively popular television series.

The sixth season of GOT shattered the HBO ratings records, with the entire run averaging over 23 million viewers. The television series also earned a total of 23 primetime Emmy nominations.
