Gionee Marathon M5 Specs, Release Date: Launch Date Revealed For Android Handset Powered By 6,020mAh Battery

Gionee has had some success in the Chinese market in recent months, thanks to the new and affordable smartphones it releases.

However, it seems the Chinese-based manufacturer is aiming at the bigger names in the competition with its two upcoming handsets.

According to a recent report by GSM Arena, Gionee will announce its upcoming Elife E8, and Marathon M5 smartphones on June 10 next week, in Beijing.

Based on previous rumors, the Elife E8 will get a 23MP primary camera, which will be the best in any Gionee smartphone in the market today. But while the Elife E8 is definitely something to look out for, it is the Marathon M5 that has been getting more attention lately.

In the report, that is because of its alleged 6,020mAh battery, which Gionee claims to run for four straight days in a single charge. In a time and age where smartphone charges last only a full day at most, the four-day claim is definitely enticing, especially for consumers who don't want to be tied down.

In addition, there is also a rumored dual-battery feature, though there are not details yet about this feature.

In the report, Gionee president William Lu will be the one in charge of introducing the Marathon M5 and the Elife E8 in the event at the China Film Directors Center at 19:00 local time.
