Gionee Marathon M5 Specs, Release Date: Smartphone With 6,020mAh Battery Now Official, Packs 4G LTE Connectivity
A Chinese manufacturer has just been reported to launch a 6,000mAh battery smartphone, but it seems Gionee has similar things in mind.
According to a report by Phone Arena, the once rumored Marathon M5 has now gone official after an announcement earlier today. But instead of getting a single battery just like what is rumored for the Doogee S6000, the Gionee handset will instead get two 3,010mAh batteries.
But in spite the two batteries packed in a single phone case, the Android-powered handset is just 8.5mm thick. While the device will certainly be heavier than most smartphones in its midrange category, nobody will complain about the long-lasting battery.
In the report, the Marathon M5's battery can go to about 62 hours of power in a single charge, and its standby time will definitely last for weeks, if not months.
While the Gionee smartphone's battery power is impressive, the phone also has some decent specs.
In the report, the Marathon M5 packs a 5.5-inch display but only with an HD (1280 x 720) resolution, 2GB of RAM, and a quad-core CPU clocked at 1.3GHz. The phone also packs a 16GB built-in memory that can be expanded through the microSD card slot, 4G LTE connectivity, a dual-SIM version, and the ability to double as a powerbank for two devices.
The Gionee handset will retail at around $370, which is pretty steep from a Gionee smartphone. But maybe the massive batteries can spell the difference.
