Girls' Generation Latest News: Tiffany, Seohyun and Sooyoung Leaves SM Entertainment

Girls' Generation has lost more members as Tiffany, Sooyoung and Seohyun depart from the iconic K-pop group. Is this the end of an era?

It has been confirmed that Tiffany, Sooyoung and Seohyun have chosen not to renew their contracts with SM Entertainment. With their departure from Girls' Generation, many are left wondering about the future of the k-pop group once dubbed as the "Nation's Girl Group" in South Korea.

It was reported that Tiffany, Sooyoung and Seohyun had left the group because they want to give more focus on their solo careers, particularly in the field of acting. Seohyun had already appeared in a number of acting roles, particularly in "Bad Thief, Good Thief," and has had a great theatre background. The same thing can also be said about Sooyoung, having appeared in three productions, namely, "Polyclinic Doctor," "Man Who Sets The Table" and "Someone You Might Know."

On the other hand, it is said that Tiffany, who has long been suspected to leave the group, is already in the US to pursue her studies. Hyoyeon, Sunny, Yoona, Yuri and leader Taeyeon have all renewed their contracts with SM Entertainment.

Having just celebrated their 10th anniversary, Girl's Generation (SNSD) is one of the most successful musical acts in K-pop history. Originally a group of nine members, former Girls' Generation idol Jessica Jung had earlier left the group back in 2014.

Now, having been reduced to a group of five, one can't help but wonder as to what actions SM Entertainment will take regarding the future of the group or if they are headed for disbandment. However, SM Entertainment already issued a statement saying that they will not be disbanding the group.

"The members have no thoughts of disbandment at all. Girls' Generation is a meaningful for both the company and their fans. However, since there are members who have ended their contracts, we will discuss with the remaining members about the future direction of Girls' Generation and proceed with caution," the company said.
