'Girls' News: Finale Season of Series Confirmed
Fans of the hit HBO series "Girls" are in for a bittersweet ride.
After months of waiting, it was reported that the fifth season of "Girls" is soon approaching. However, it was also revealed that the HBO series is set to end after hitting its sixth season.
The trailer for "Girls" season 5 was recently released, which revealed the beloved characters in new chapters of their lives. Fans got a look at Shoshanna's new life in Japan while a new romantic interest was introduced for Elijah.
With that, it can be expected that the season will see the girls in an important milestone in their lives. In addition, it was revealed that there will be several guest stars for the season to come, such as Aidy Bryant, Corey Stoll, Jake Lacy, and Lucy Liu.
However, Lena Dunham recently spoke to Entertainment Weekly about the future of the series. She confirmed that the series will reach its end by season 6. She explained, "I conceived of Girls when I was 23 and now I'm nearly 30 — the show has quite perfectly spanned my 20s, the period of time that it's about — and so it feels like the right time to wrap our story up."
She also added that the sixth season will honor the cast and characters of the series. Dunham also expressed her enjoyment with working on the series. She explained that it has created a network of women, both involved and watching the series. She stated in another Entertainment Weekly interview, "[It's] given me more opportunities to speak to those women about issues important to me and Jenni Konner and to talk about politics and art and health and creativity and spirituality in a way that feels honest to us."
"Girls" season 5 is expected to air on HBO this Feb. 21.
