Google Glass Update Release Date: Creators Say Gadget Update Coming Soon

Google's Glass tech could safely be considered as "almost dead" tech but for its creators, it's far from it. The company is about to release a new and upgraded version of the tech-glasses, fitting it with an all-new chip and with improved battery life. It has been reported that Intel will be making the chip, replacing the one manufactured by Texas Instruments.

The Glass was first introduced as a consumer gadget but Intel has revealed that it will help Google introduce the device to businesses instead. The Glass will now be used as a workplace-computing device for use in hospitals and manufacturing sites.

Support for the Google Glass had dipped steeply over the past few months, Developers for one had stopped developing any apps for the device, with Twitter as an example. The social networking company had pulled out its app from the Google Play Store as well as ceasing development.

Also, last month, the company had announced that it will be closing down all its physical stores which sold the device. What's more, Google co-founder Sergey Brin was seen at a red carpet event without the Glass. It was only later revealed that he had accidentally left it in the car.

Surely, Glass is now dead as a public consumer product but for the workplace, the Glass is still viable for use by the workforce, in healthcare for example.

Companies Augmedix and Pristine are seeing a more rapid adoption for the device for use in their clinics, ERs, ambulances, ICUs, ORs, and med schools.
