'Gotham' Season 2 Episode 16 News: Preview Release, Season 3 Renewal

The new promo for the upcoming episode of "Gotham" season two episode 16 has been released by Fox featuring a sinister turn of events finding Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) out of protective custody and inside the prison where everywhere he turns there is a potential threat to his survival. Only with the help of his partner and friend, Harvey Bullock (Donal Logue), as well as a few others, does he stand a chance of staying alive within the prison's walls.

Outside the walls, something is brewing among the villains. Monday's episode brought Oswald Cobbleplot (Robin Lord Taylor), while visiting some old friends of his, in contact with a man who claims to be his father, Elijah Van Dahl (Paul Reubens). His appearance has the audience thinking they are in for a family reunion as will be Penguin/Cobbleplot.

In this second half of the season's "Wrath of Villains" episode 16, "Prisoners," this turn of events will play out, with Penguin getting to know his father better, as well as his stepmother, and step-siblings. And none of them to be trusted.

Some reports have whispered that the Van Dahl's are of The Court of Owls, a secret organization that has run Gotham City since its founding, something hinted at by the showrunner Bruno Heller himself. The family Van Dahl's filthy-rich-but-old-money demeanor and the long Gotham lineage may be proof enough of their affiliation.

To add to the excitement, a character from season one is rumored to return before this current season ends.

Speculation has it that Jerome, the mysterious character who joined the current season in an earlier episode will also be making another appearance, according to McKenzie in an interview for Comicbook.com.

Fans can catch all these in the upcoming episode, "Wrath of Villains: Prisoners" on Monday, March 28, 2016, at 8 PM to 9 PM on the Fox network.
