'Gotham' season 2 news, cast, spoilers: Theo takes over Arkham Asylum in latest season 2 clip
With the string of cast news about the return of "Gotham," it's no longer a surprise that this season will focus on the rise of villains, and their ascend to take over Gotham's underworld. Last month, James Frain was confirmed to play Theo Galavan, a new prominent character in high society who plans to bring chaos unto Gotham alongside his sister, Tabitha a.k.a. Tigress.
A clip from last week showed fans Theo meeting Barbara Kean, the ex-girlfriend of detective James Gordon (Ben McKenzie) whose unstable mental health had her end up in Arkham Asylum. Following this, it would only make sense that the latest clip will once again feature the Galavan siblings. According to Screen Rant, the siblings will further interact with other Arkham inmates and more likely recruit them to join their evil plans for the city.
Many are quite relieved to see that this season will have a more centered story line, unlike in the last season that seemed to be still figuring things out. Although it looks like the Galavan siblings are the big bad this season from the way they are leading the darkness, the show is still causing excitement for other developing villains, such as Nygma who is suspected to be the earlier Riddler and Jerome who many think is trying to be an early version of The Joker. Many, however, dislike the idea of Jerome taking on the pre-Joker as the comics have never actually revealed Joker's history, which contributes a lot o the mystery of his character and has kept the comics interesting.
The season 2 premiere is titled "Damned If You Do." Although the general plot of the season has already been reiterated numerous times, the way this darkness will slowly take over and span out throughout the episodes is still definitely something to look forward to.
Gotham season 2 will premiere on Sept. 21 on FOX.
