'Gotham' Season 4 Spoilers: Frustrations to Push Ivy to Transition to Poison Ivy

The future episodes of "Gotham" season 4 will feature Ivy (Maggie Geha) transitioning to her comic book version of the villain Poison Ivy as her frustrations will push her to ingest a poison that will give her powers.

Fed up with being treated like a little girl and being made to feel like an outcast, "Gotham's" version of Ivy will finally take some steps into becoming the villainous character she is known to be in various incarnations of Batman.

While the recently released season 4 of "Gotham" features most of its characters undergoing major changes including a teenage Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz) who now has his own suit similar to Batman's cowl, there is no denying that it is Ivy who has changed the most. After all, with the ability to artificially age anyone she touches, she has transformed herself into a mid-20's woman from a 15-year-old girl.

Despite the changes and her abilities, though, Ivy feels that she still does not get the respect she deserves from the Penguin (Robin Taylor), the other women of Gotham, and almost anybody else. Because of this, she will resort into drinking experimental toxins and potions from a forgotten time that will alter her DNA.

"This is indeed going to be a major shift in Ivy's character. She's at a crossroads, fed up with Penguin, alienated by the Sirens. So it felt like the perfect time to push the character in a new direction," Bryan Wynbrandt, "Gotham" co-executive producer, said in a recent interview with SyFy.

However, avid viewers of "Gotham" may have to wait a while before they can see Ivy as her almost full-fledged villainous version in the series as, according to Wynbrandt, the character will be away for a while before returning at the latter part of the season. However, once she returns, it will certainly be worth the wait.

"When she comes back later in the season we will see her transformed or 'becoming' more of the Ivy we know from the comics. Dangerous. A live wire of crazy energy," Wynbrandt teased.

"Gotham" season 4 airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. EDT on Fox.
