The current standings show that the Packers are second in the division with a 6-2 record, only behind the Minnesota Vikings who also have the same win-loss record so far this season.

On the other hand, the Lions are desperately trying to improve their standings as they are at the bottom of the table with 1-7 after eight games so far. The Chicago Bears are third to round up the NFC North.

Despite being regarded as one of the better teams in the league, the Lions have disappointed in their 2015-16 campaign. Only one win in their last eight matches is hardly any sign of an elite team and they are clearly out of the chase for a spot in the post-season.

Their lone win came against the Bears at home when they won 37-34 but have since lost to the Vikings and the Kansas City Chiefs.

However, they are facing the Packers at the best time as the Wisconsin squad are also reeling after back-to-back losses.

After starting the season hot with six consecutive victories, the Packers are now looking to avoid completely collapsing in the second half of the season - with a loss to the Lions giving them their third consecutive defeat this season.

There is no doubt that the Packers are an elite squad and they are still one of the favourites to win the Super Bowl as the second half of the season progresses, but they must try to right the ship and a win against a division rival may be the way to go about it.

The bye week may have cost them their steam as they have lost to the Denver Broncos and Carolina Panthers - two undefeated teams as well - after their rest week in week seven.

Now they have another struggling team in front of them and look for the Packers to try and play their best game of the season to begin their comeback.
