Greenville Wal-Mart Shooting: 4 Wounded, Suspect Shot 'Multiple Times' by Police
A North Carolina gunman was shot and wounded by police after opening fire outside a law firm and a Wal-Mart in Greenville.
Four people were injured Friday morning after a gunman opened fire in the parking lot of a Greenville law firm. The suspect took aim at a man sitting in a car outside the firm before crossing a busy intersection and opening fire for a second time at a nearby Wal-Mart.
At least three people outside the Wal-Mart were injured before police fired at the suspect. A spokesperson for Wal-Mart confirmed that no one inside of the store was harmed.
The suspect, whose name has not yet been released by police, was shot and wounded. The state of his condition is still unavailable.
Police were forced to chase the suspect down; he was shot "multiple times," Greenville Police Chief Hassan Aden told Reuters.
The condition of the victims was not immediately released. The connection between the victims outside Wal-Mart and the victim outside the law firm is still unclear. Police are currently investigating the case.
Witnesses said the suspect was wearing a bullet proof vest. The victim outside the law firm was an insurance adjustor at the company, NBC news reported.
Police believe that other businesses may also have been involved in the shooting. At least one other man, described as a white older male, was treated by emergency officials near the side entrance of Wal-Mart, although his injuries appeared to be non-life threatening the NBC report confirmed.
