'Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2' News, Spoilers: James Gunn Teases Chris Pratt and Kurt Russell's 'Jaw-Dropping Scene'

"Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" director James Gunn has added fuel to the speculation about the mystery character that "The Hateful Eight" actor Kurt Russell is playing in the upcoming "Guardians" sequel.

In a live Facebook Q&A on Tuesday, March 29, Gunn said that Russell recently filmed a "jaw-dropping" scene with "Guardians" star Chris Pratt, who plays Peter Quill/Star-Lord in the franchise.

"We just shot a scene with Chris Pratt and Kurt Russell," Gunn said during the Facebook live stream. "I cannot show you—they are in their costumes—but it was magnificent and really exciting."

The director's mention of Pratt and Russell's scene has led fans to wonder if the "jaw-dropping moment" he was referring to is the one in which Quill finally discovers the identity of his long-lost father. Could Russell's unnamed character be Quill's dad?

During the Facebook Q&A, Gunn also spoke about another new addition to the "Guardians of the Galaxy" roster: "Oldboy" actress Pom Klementieff, who plays Mantis. "Yesterday, we had a really truly jaw dropping moment, a wonderful moment with Pom, who plays Mantis," the director said. "[She] fits the role so perfectly that it's shocking."

In his 16-minute long Facebook Live session, Gunn also talked about which of the Guardians are his favorites. According to the director, who was speaking from his trailer on the set of the upcoming sequel, "It's hard for me to be more attached to any character than I am to Rocket and Groot."

"Rocket, because he's based on me, and Groot, because he's based on my dog," he explained.

As Marvel fans know, Groot (voiced by Vin Diesel) is the quiet anthropomorphic tree who saves the rest of the Guardians in "Guardians of the Galaxy" (2014) while Rocket (voiced by Bradley Cooper) is the clever genetically-engineered raccoon who is skilled in weapons and battle tactics.

"Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" is currently in production in Atlanta and is expected to wrap sometime in June.

The film is set to hit theatres on May 5, 2017.
