Hero 12-Year-Old Up Late Playing Video Games Saves Family's Life, Thanks God (VIDEO)
A 12-year-old boy saved his sleeping family from a fire, and for this feel-good story we can thank…video games?
Jaxxyn Wood of Danville, Ken. was up at 3:30 a.m. playing video games when he smelled something like "Legos on fire," as he described to WKYT. He investigated and found the ice maker burning in the kitchen.
"I grabbed a plastic cup of water and put it out as much as I could, and then I went and got everybody," Jaxxyn said.
Acting on what he learned in school about what to do in emergencies, he went upstairs and woke his sisters, who helped wake up the rest of the nine family members at home. Everyone safely escaped the fire, which burned on the first floor and caused smoke damage to the second and third floors of the home. The house had no smoke detectors.
While video games kept Jaxxyn awake late into the night, his perspective on his heroic act takes a more divine approach.
"Pretty much thanking God for it," he said.
