Hilary Duff, Mike Comri Split But Still 'Best Friends'
Hilary Duff, the 26-year-old actress, has officially split from her husband of over three years, 33-year-old professional Hockey player Mike Comrie.
Despite the split the pair are reportedly still on good terms. "Hilary Duff and husband Mike Comrie have mutually decided to an amicable separation," Duff's representatives said in a statement to E! News. "They remain best friends and will continue to be in each other's lives. They are dedicated to loving and parenting their amazing son, and ask for privacy at this time."
While the pair has dated since 2007, E! is reporting that they drifted apart over time and could not save their marriage after undergoing therapy sessions. After giving birth to her 2-year-old son Luca Cruz Comri, the actress previously gushed about how parenthood changed the couple.
"There's really no words to describe it. It's the most incredible thing every day. It softens you so much," she previously told E! News. "(Mike's) really incredible. He's so hands-on, so thoughtful, so loving. He's really a natural, it's incredible. I got really lucky."
In 2009, Duff insisted that she did not know anyone who spoke negatively about her future husband.
"I've never met anyone who can say a bad word about him," Huff said in a previous PEOPLE report. "He's generous, caring and sunny. We laugh our heads off. "
The actress previously let it be known what the couple was doing to maintain their relationship after having a baby.
"We go out like once a week together and try and do something fun. We either go to dinner...we're going to go bowling next week," Duff said in an E! News report after having her baby. "It's weird scheduling so much because we used to do things on a whim and now we have to schedule."
