'House of Cards' Season 4 News: More Bloodshed to Come in Underwood Campaign as Ellen Burstyn Joins Cast

Fans are just about a week away from seeing the fictitious 2016 presidential campaigns with Frank Underwood (Kevin Spacey) leading the way, and as expected, fans should expect more blood to trickle.

During Monday's "House of Cards" season 4 premiere, Nathan Darrow, who plays the role of Edward Meechum, said "Fans should be excited for more of the brilliant villainy of Frank and more of the bloodshed that flows in his wake."

The teasers reveal that Frank won't just be bothered by his rivals in the presidential race but he will also be burdened with family issues that stemmed from the previous season's finale.

In season 3's finale, fans saw a whole new face and personality behind Claire (Robin Wright). Although it has been speculated earlier that the FLOTUS will in no time give up on Frank and his selfish aspirations, it happened too soon. Claire walked out of Frank's life and it appears that in season 4, she will become his biggest enemy.

The couple have seen politician after politician fall right in front of their faces, and as a team, they seemed unconquerable. However, it has been teased numerous times that this season will bring chaos to the Underwood household, as Frank retains his stand that Claire would be nothing without him. In fact, it is the other way around. Power and greed have taken over Frank's heart and it seems Claire is on a mission to stop his already bloody tracks.

Meanwhile, former showrunner Beau Willmon's absence at the show's premiere was noticed by mediamen. He left the series after completing the fourth season, and despite the loss of the original creator, the cast is looking forward to a successful run.

Probably one thing that fans will definitely look forward to is Ellen Burstyn's role. She has been added to the cast as Claire's mother. It is expected that she will bring in more tension to the warring couple, making Frank's run for presidency even more strenuous than ever. Burstyn's addition is one big surprise for many who have been engulfed solely in the lives of the two Underwoods, but her performance is something fans are excited about.

"House of Cards" season 4 returns to Netflix on March 4.
