'House Of Cards' Season 4 Spoilers: New Teaser Released During Golden Globes Reminds Viewers Of Underwood's Misdeeds
"House of Cards," the popular political drama web TV series, dropped its latest teaser for the upcoming Season 4 during Sunday's Golden Globes. The new cleverly-placed teaser follows last month's promo clip, which aired during CNN's Republican presidential debate and was positioned as a campaign ad for the show's central character, the fictional sitting U.S. President, Frank Underwood (Kevin Spacey).
In the new teaser, Underwood sits behind his desk at the Oval Office as he tells voters why they should re-elect him. "They say we get the leaders we deserve," he begins. "Well here's what I think America deserves," he says, before launching into a list of the qualities he thinks America's leader should have.
According to Underwood, Americans need "a leader who's not afraid to look you in the eye and tell you what he believes" and then goes on to say that he believes in "putting people first" and in "putting America back on track" and in "opening doors."
A Wall Street Journal article points out that Underwood's words are played over short clips of scenes that remind viewers of his past misdeeds, including the burial of a dead body, the time when he urinated on his father's grave, and a physical altercation with his wife Claire (Robin Wright). The scenes contrast sharply with the virtues Frank extols.
Calling himself "a humble man," the Commander-in-Chief says that he believes in "working with both sides so that we all get what we want" and in "pointing people in the right direction," but also says that "we should all be free to make our own decisions."
"I think America deserves Frank Underwood," he ends his plea. "And in your heart, you know I'm right."
The fourth season of "House of Cards" premieres on Friday, March 4, on Netflix, with all Season 4 episodes dropping at once.
