'How to Get Away With Murder' Season 4 News, Spoilers: Laurel Suspects Her Father Pulled Wes' Murder

Laurel (Karla Souza) believes that her father, Jorge (Esai Morales), is responsible for Wes' (Alfred Enoch) death.

On the season 4 premiere of "How to Get Away With Murder," Laura lied to Jorge and told him that she got an abortion after finding out that she was pregnant. In an interview with TVLine, Souza explained that it was a way for Laurel to find out if he knew about her baby with Wes.

"By telling him she was pregnant, she was kind of fishing to see if he knew that, which it looked like he didn't, which would mean he didn't know he just killed the father of the baby," revealed Souza.

The actress also revealed that Laurel staying in Wes' old apartment is not for her to feel closer to her deceased boyfriend or for her to find refuge there. It's actually Laurel's way of protecting Wes from any more harm that her father can still cause.

"She wants to stay there and make sure that no one comes in to plant something. He's very capable of making everyone think that Wes had some awful past or did something awful," Souza explained, which is something Jorge can use to be the reason why Wes was killed.

Showrunner Pete Nowalk also revealed that in episode 2, titled "I'm Not Her," Laurel will already take action to hold her father responsible for Wes' death.

Nowalk told Variety that viewers will see "If she's going to try to prove her father killed Wes or if she's going to try to get revenge somehow." Nowalk added that Laurel's next steps will ultimately lead her to the night at the hospital, where she woke up freaking out about her missing baby.

According to the showrunner, Laurel will also be forming a bond with an unlikely character, with whom she will rely on the most this season 4.

Fans can catch "How to Get Away With Murder" season 4 every Thursday night at 10 p.m. EDT on ABC.
