'How to Get Away with Murder': Who Killed Wallace Mahoney?

On a television series entitled "How to Get Away with Murder," it should not come as a surprise when someone gets offed; however, the season two finale was one---well two, really---shocking cliffhanger ending that would make the wait for next season unbearable for avid viewers of the show. Who killed Wallace Mahoney (Adam Arkin), and where could Frank (Charlie Weber) be? With next season months away, hints from someone starring on the show, Charlie Weber, as well as from the show's creator himself, Pete Nowalk, may offer some ideas.

Thursday night revealed that Annalise's car crash which killed her unborn baby had been no accident. Frank was on Sam's payroll and had been since the former first accepted a bribe from the latter to plant a bug on Annalise (Viola Davis). The crash was no accident; Frank had rigged Annalise's car. When she found out about his betrayal, she was devastated. She then tells Bonnie (Liza Weil) that Frank had to go. But Frank has suddenly disappeared.

As for Wes (Alfred Enoch), he had gone to New Yok after being told by Annalise that Mahoney was his real father. And, as if Wes has not had enough tragedy to deal with, his father was shot right in front of him just as Wes found him in New York.

An interview with the actor Weber, who plays the character Frank, revealed that no one among the cast really knew who killed Mahoney. Weber says there's only one who does know but he was not talking, referring perhaps to the series creator Nowalk.

The theory is that it was Frank who shot Mahoney to get back on Annalise's good side, after what he has done to her. But, Nowalk points out, "sometimes on the show, it's our goal to do what no one expects and sometimes we just do what makes sense."

As to how soon it would be revealed in the next season who really shot Mahoney, Nowalk dishes out, "There are two options for me—it's either in the first minute in the show, or that's a longer mystery because it's a more complicated story."

On whether Frank is gone for good or just hiding out from Annalise, Nowalk replies, "There's a very good option that he's gone for good … That bag has a lot of money and he hasn't touched it this whole time ... Or, he's going to try to win her love back. Those are just two options."

Nowalk also hints at more secrets that may be unearthed regarding Frank that he intends to explore. "There's a big mystery still of who was he before he met Annalise. What happened between him and Sam beyond that secret that they kept in the hospital? … We've only now just revealed one secret so there's got to be a lot more."

Frank cannot really be gone for good then, not with all those secrets that may unfold from his character alone?
