HTC Desire 816 vs Motorola Droid Turbo Review: Specs, Features Comparison
Motorola and HTC have both stepped up their game to cater to the selfie-obsessed market by producing quality handsets equipped with impressive cameras. While the HTC Desire Eye is touted as the ultimate selfie phone, the more affordable HTC Desire 816 is likewise capable of producing great images. As for the spec-heavy Motorola Droid Turbo, its powerful battery combined with its advanced features and camera gives it an edge over other devices in the market.
Here, we compare the HTC Desire 816 with the Motorola Droid Turbo.
Design:
The Motorola phone comes in black and red, and the two devices look very different from each other. The black model has a back made up of a tightly woven ballistic nylon material which gives the device a cheap look. However, the red model has a Kevlar back with a holographic woven design similar to that of the black variant. It measures 5.65 x 2.89 x 0.44 inches and weighs 6.21 ounces.
The Desire 816 looks a lot like the HTC One M8, albeit its body is made out of plastic rather than a metallic chassis. It measures 6.17 x 3.10 x 0.31 inches and weighs 5.82 ounces.
Features:
The Droid Turbo has a 5.2-inch AMOLED display with a 2,560 x 1,440 resolution and pixel density of 565 pixels per inch. On the other hand, the HTC handset has a 5.5-inch HD screen with a resolution of 1,280 x 720 pixels with pixel density of 267ppi. Though the Turbo has more pixels per inch than the Desire 816, images on the HTC phone appear as clear and sharp as those viewed on the Motorola phone, though colors are not as vivid.
Both phones run on Android and the Droid Turbo is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor, while the Desire 816 has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chip.
As for internal storage, the Droid Turbo comes with more storage capacity at 64GB, but it cannot be expanded due to the lack of a microSD card slot. The HTC phone only has a built-in 8GB storage, but this can be expanded up to 128GB.
The Droid Turbo has a rear facing 20.7MP camera and 2MP front-facing camera, while the Desire 816 has a 13MP rear facing shooter and a 5MP front-facing camera.
Price:
The Motorola Droid Turbo costs $600 off contract, while the HTC Desire 816 costs $400 off contract.
