HTC Nexus Phones 2016 Rumors: Handsets to Sport VR?

2016 seems to be looking toward a great year for HTC as recent rumors suggest that the upcoming handsets will sport virtual reality (VR) technology.

According to the reports, the company has been tapped to come up with the 2016 Nexus handsets for Google. The news isn't surprising since HTC was, after all, the team that worked on the Nexus One and the T-Mobile G1, making the collaboration much easier since the companies are already knowledgeable of each other's terms.

Despite the good features that the Nexus One and T-Mobile G1 sported, the market seemed not in the mood to accept the HTC-manufactured devices. On the other hand, it is expected that the upcoming Nexus handsets will give HTC a chance to redeem itself.

Android Headlines points out that the Nexus, while clearly unable to draw in giant sales figures, has made a statement in the industry, and with the rumor that the upcoming Nexus devices will be featuring virtual reality, it seems HTC will once again obtain some pretty good reviews.

While HTC is the name that rings a bell everywhere when the Nexus is mentioned, there have been rumors suggesting Google has chosen Huawei to create the next Nexus. It may not be a good decision after the Nexus 6P from the Chinese company garnered criticism for its "ugly bump."

With HTC working on the upcoming devices, it is speculated that consumers will start gaining respect for both the Taiwanese manufacturer and Google. The collaboration is also expected to up the companies' brand appeal in a wider domain.

Details are very scarce about the rumored Nexus flagships, but some reports state that one of the phones will sport a 5-inch display while the other will be larger, with a 5.5-inch display.

As far as Google is concerned, it is expected that the handsets will be running on Google's Android platform, the Android N — a decision that will probably help slay the 2016 market.
