HTC One M10 Specs, Release Date: New Flagship Phone To Miss MWC Launch
A new report from the website IT Home has revealed that the HTC One M10, the Taiwanese tech giant's latest flagship smartphone, will not be ready in time for its expected launch at the Mobile World Congress 2016 in Barcelona in late February.
This is what is known about the device so far.
Possible release date
According to the IT Home report, the HTC One M10 won't make its expected launch at the 2016 Mobile World Congress in February as the device is yet to be finalized. Instead, the One M10 could be launched in a separate HTC event in March and made available in April. According to CNET, should the One M10 miss its MWC launch date, it would be the first time that HTC fails to launch a smartphone from its "One" flagship line at the event in four years.
A similar fate befell the Samsung Galaxy S4, with a separate launch/press conference held for the device a few weeks after the Mobile World Congress. While Samsung was a big enough tech brand that its Galaxy S4 was able to get enough attention for its launch, HTC, an ailing tech conglomerate whose market share fell 9 points between 2011 and 2015, may not fare as well.
Design and specs
Everything that is currently known about the HTC One M10 is purely hearsay, but the details are exciting enough that fans of HTC's previous flagship devices are looking forward to this latest premium device.
As with most of the Android phones scheduled for 2016 and 2017 releases, the HTC One M10 is said to come packed with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820 processor and may run Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. It is expected that the smartphone will come equipped with an impressive 23-megapixel rear camera and HTC's Sense 8.0.
Following the lead of one of its main rivals, Samsung, HTC is also expected to make the One M10 water- and dust-resistant. It is likely that the Taiwanese company will keep the aluminium unibody and fingerprint scanner of the HTC One M9 for its successor, and there is talk about a 3000 mAh battery and a 6-inch 1440x2560 QHD screen.
