HTC U11 Plus Release Date, Specs and Design News: Leaked Renders Reveal Design, Features
Not much has been said about the HTC U11 Plus, dubbed as the Ocean Master, but new leaked renders tease a first look at the smartphone, and new rumors suggest a larger battery.
The U11 Plus is expected to be a slightly larger version than the U11. Leaks reveal a 5.99-inch display with a 2:1 aspect ratio. It should come with a 1,440 x 2,880 resolution.
The renders reveal that the U11 Plus appears almost exactly like the standard U11 model, with a shiny two-tone glass back that most likely catches fingerprints. Much like its competition, HTC appears to have reduced the bezels on the smartphone's top and bottom area. Based on the snaps, the device's fingerprint scanner has been transferred to the rear part.
Rumor has it the U11 Plus will have a 12-megapixel single lens rear camera, which should come with an aperture of f/1.7 and an optical image stabilization. Additionally, its front camera will reportedly be downsized, sporting only 8-megapixel when the U11 has a 16-megapixel front snapper.
Though improvements to the cameras are unclear, the smartphone's is said to come with a 4,000 mAh battery, which is quite the improvement from U11's 3,000 mAh pack.
Other features include water resistance. It is said to be an IP69 certified dust and water resistant device, which is an improvement from the U11. This means the smartphone can be submerged in water up to 1.5 meters deep but only for 30 minutes or so.
HTC's U11 Plus is expected to cost at least $649. With contenders raising the bar and price tag of flagship units, the company might also slap the device with a hefty tag.
The release date of Ocean Master remains unclear, but there is a good chance the company will unveil the device early in November.
HTC is hosting an event on Thursday, Nov. 2, which could be where they will introduce the highly-anticipated HTC U11 Plus. More updates should follow.
