Huawei P8 Lite Specs, Release Date: Lower-End 'Flagship' Hits US Market, Costs Only $250

Just a couple of weeks ago, the new Huawei P8 Lite was released in some Asian markets. However, it seems Huawei plans to make the device available in the U.S. as soon as possible.

According to a recent report by GSM Arena, the Android-powered smartphone, which is considered a toned-down version of the Huawei P8 flagship, is now available in the U.S.

In the report, the Chinese manufacturer held a press event in New York City where it officially launched the P8 Lite, which will retail beginning at $249.99 off contract.

Compared to the Huawei P8, the P8 Lite has a plastic body and not the P8's metal casing. Some hardware and other specifications have also been toned down a little in order to keep its retail price low.

In the report, the Huawei P8 Lite packs a 5-inch display with HD (1280 x 720) resolution, a 2GB RAM, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 chipset that supports 64-bit applications, and 16GB of built-in memory. On the other hand, the international version of the P8 Lite has Huawei's favourite Kirin 620 SoC.

Other notable specs include a 13MP primary shooter, a 5MP front camera, a microSD card slot, a 2,200mAh battery, and Android 4.4.4 Kit Kat out of the box.

The Android smartphone will be available in white/gold or black/gray either from Huawei's official online store in the US, or from major third-party retailers like Amazon or Best Buy with a two-year warranty.
